Record 114 amateur teams confirmed for 2025 US Open Cup qualifiers

CHICAGO (Sept. 11, 2024) – A record 114 amateur teams have registered for the 2025 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and will compete in qualifying rounds this fall. They enter the 110th edition of the historic American club soccer championship as ultimate underdogs, vying for 14 spots in the 2025 tournament proper next spring.

The 2024 USASA National Amateur Cup winners New York Pancyprian Freedoms and United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Spring Champions Soda City FC have already secured entry into the 2025 tournament through their respective leagues.

The other half of the Open Division teams will compete through domestic leagues. Teams from the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and United Soccer Leagues (USL) League Two competed in the Open Cup through league competitions last summer.

The 114-player qualifying field is dominated by notable clubs including former national amateur champions and Open Cup regulars Lansdowne Yonkers FC and former Open Cup champions NY Greek Americans (1967, 1968, 1969 and 1974).

There is another former champion in the mix, the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals (1960, 1961, 1963 and 1966) representing the United Soccer League of Pennsylvania. From the west, we will have last year's debutants, Sharktopus FC of Seattle Recreational Adult Team Soccer and International San Francisco of the historic San Francisco Soccer Football League (SFSFL).

The 114 teams will be grouped into 14 regional pools from which the draw for the qualifying rounds will be made. The 2025 qualifying rounds will take place over four weekend match windows as follows.

Match Window 1: Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 Match Window 2: Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27 Match Window 3: Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17 Match Window 4: Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8

Additional spots in the tournament proper are available to qualifying round teams this fall due to a change approved by the US Open Cup committee for the 2025 edition. Under the revised procedure, half of the 32 spots reserved for Open Division teams in the tournament proper would be allocated to National League teams, while the other half would be allocated to the UPSL and USASA champions and qualifying round participants. The 16 National League spots will be allocated pro rata among the national leagues based on the number of eligible teams in the summer of 2024.

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
