President Jokowi inaugurates Indonesian Islamic Financial Center zone in Jakarta
Klikwarta.com, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Indonesian Islamic Financial Center (IIFC) in Central Jakarta, Tuesday (17/09/2024). In his speech, the head of state emphasized the importance of developing the sharia economy in Indonesia, given that the Muslim population reaches 236 million people.
“It is a big market, a big market, a big potential, which we must think about so that the opportunities that exist are not lost to other countries,” the president said.
The President said that Indonesia has a great opportunity to become the center of the global halal industry. He added that this step must be followed by strengthening the Sharia economic ecosystem and preparing professional players in the halal industry.
The President also highlighted the significant growth of the Islamic finance sector in Indonesia. The President explained that the assets of Islamic banks increased by 9.07 percent, while those of domestic banks increased by 8.9 percent. Third-party funds of Islamic banks also increased by 10.41 percent, while domestic banks increased by 8.43 percent.
“If we look at the numbers, the Sharia financial sector is growing faster than the national banks,” the president said.
President Joko Widodo said this growth shows great potential for Indonesia to become a barometer of the sharia banking system not only domestically, but also in Asia and the world. He also hopes that Indonesian Islamic banks will be able to compete globally through modern, professional and competitive management.
It is hoped that the IIFC zone can become a center for developing the Sharia economic ecosystem and supporting various halal industries. From Muslim fashion to halal tourism to the halal food and beverage industry.
