PM Modi to virtually inaugurate Shivajinagar District Court of Pune Metro on Sunday on Swargateline – Infrastructure News
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the much-awaited Pune Metro line connecting Shivajinagar District Court and Swargate on Sunday (September 29). The announcement was shared by local MP and Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol. The Prime Ministers will virtually inaugurate the Metro corridor and also lay the foundation stone of the Swaraj-Katraj Metro stretch, thereby expanding Pune's transport infrastructure.
PM Modi's visit to Pune canceled
Prime Minister Modi was supposed to visit Pune and mark the metropolitan corridor and was also expected to launch other development projects worth Rs 22,600 crore on Thursday. However, intense heavy downpours in the city led to the cancellation of the event. Even the SP College site was affected by the heavy rains. Preparations at the SP College ground, the venue of the launch, were affected by heavy rains. The project will benefit the growing urban population of Pune.
Political reaction to the event
NCP (SP) working president and Baramati MP Supriya Sule shared her reaction on the cancellation that PM Modi should choose an online inauguration. Sule also pointed out that he had done this several times before for the same project. Meanwhile, Pune NCP (SP) chief Prashant Jagtap criticized the delay in inaugurating the new metro line and accused the government of postponing the launch only for PM Modi to launch the line. Jagtap even threatened that if the government failed to launch the new metro line, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders would open it to the public on Friday.
