England vs Australia Fourth ODI Scorecard, Nightmare Collapse, Blog, Video, Highlights

England leveled the ODI series at 2-2 after beating Australia by 186 runs in a rain-affected match at Lords on Friday.

Chasing a target of 313 runs for victory in a limited-overs match of 39 overs, the Australians were bowled for 126 in 24.4 overs after England's speedy pace ripped through the top order.

It was not only England's second biggest ODI win against their Ashes rival in terms of runs, but also Australia's second ODI defeat at Lords in the last 25 years.

After being sent in, England posted 5-312 at the Home of Cricket, with skipper Brook (87 not out from 58 balls) doing most of the damage before a late blitz from Livingstone (62 not out from 27 balls).

Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who returned to the starting line-up after an illness setback, picked up two crucial wickets, while seamer Josh Hazlewood impressed with economical figures of 1-40 from eight overs.

However, Carse (3-36) and Archer (2-33) kept Australia nowhere near the target, with Matthew Potts clearing the tail to finish with career-best figures of 4-38.

The Australians, who lost 10-58 in a terrible collapse, were thoroughly outclassed in every facet of the match, with Sunday's heavy defeat in Bristol setting up a series decider.

We were a bit wrong today, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh said in the post-match press conference.

Fair play to England, they put us under a lot of pressure with the bat.

They just thoroughly outplayed us today, that's cricket.

The fourth ODI was reduced to a 39-over match after a frustrating rain delay, with England openers Phil Salt and Duckett surviving the eight-over Powerplay after Marsh won the toss and elected to bowl first in overcast conditions.

Salt and England No.3 Will Jacks departed in almost identical fashion, at one point breaking full deliveries towards Marnus Labuschagne, falling victim to Hazlewood and Marsh respectively.

In a moment of deja vu, the Lords crowd showered Australian wicketkeeper Josh Inglis with boos after he called for a catch against Brook that turned out to have been rebounded.

Duckett formed a 79-run partnership for the third wicket with his captain before overshooting a sweep shot against Zampa to Fine Leg to depart for 63 (62). Brook, who needed just 37 deliveries to pass fifty, looked destined for another century before moving on to long-on, where Glenn Maxwell held on to an excellent catch.

England wicketkeeper Jamie Smith raced to 39 before hitting a shot towards point, with Livingstone providing some fireworks during the death overs.

Livingstone, who cleared the boundary rope seven times, scored 28 runs during the final over, delivered by Mitchell Starc, to reach fifty in just 25 deliveries, an ODI record at Lords. Meanwhile, England scored twelve sixes during the innings, another record at the iconic venue.

The Australian run chase got off to a promising start, with opener Travis Head and Marsh combining for a quick 68-run partnership before the tourists lost 6-31 in a dramatic collapse as the English quicks wreaked havoc on the tricky surface.

Head missed a straight for 34 and Steve Smith fell behind by 5 before Marsh collected a beauty from Jofra Archer which snapped away and crashed into the top of a stump. Carse struck twice in the 15th over, with Inglis throwing a regular catch towards cover before Labuschagne played around an absolute peach to bowl for 4.

Maxwell made a pull shot against Archer for 2, with the catch passing to gloveman Smith, before Matthew Potts returned to clear the tail, removing Sean Abbott, Alex Carey and Zampa in quick succession.

England spinner Adil Rashid, denied a marginal decision against Abbott, knocked over tailender Hazlewood for a duck to secure the resounding win.

Earlier, Cricket Australia confirmed that all-rounder Cameron Green had been ruled out of the rest of the ODI series after sustaining a back injury.

The fifth ODI between England and Australia gets underway at Bristol's County Ground on Sunday, with the first ball scheduled for 8pm AEST.
