Karachi [Pakistan]September 28 (ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is yet to get permission to hold the protest rally in Karachi on Sunday, ARY News reported. The Karachi commissioner will take the decision after taking into account the comments of the deputy commissioners and SSPs of Eastern and Southern Districts on whether to let the protesters hold the rally or not. The party founded by Imran Khan had on Sunday announced to hold a protest rally by Karachi Press Club at Mazar-e-Quaid to force the implementation of the Supreme Court order on reserved seats. PTI had also asked the commissioner permission for the protest rally, as reported by ARY News. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, PTI city president Raja Azhar said the Supreme Court's decision had made it clear that the reserved seats belonged to PTI, ARY News reported.

Ahead of another major protest called by the PTI today, Pakistan's Rawalpindi provincial government banned all public gatherings and stationed paramilitary forces, Dawn reported. Earlier, the PTI had planned to organize a 'jalsa' at Liaquat Bagh, but party founder Imran Khan changed the arrangement. decision saying the government would not allow his party to hold the event in the city and designate a venue in the suburbs. According to Dawn, even though PTI leaders have promised to reach the venue “despite all obstacles”, it will not be an easy task. Rawalpindi Police, Rangers and Punjab Police have planned to “lay a virtual siege” to the garrison town to arrest PTI workers, according to a senior police official. No traffic could enter or leave the city because roads would be blocked by containers and barbed wire.
