Boris Johnson said he was considering a military deployment to the Netherlands in spring 2021 to confiscate corona vaccines. However, Chalmers stressed that it would be difficult to complete the mission without detection. If the British soldiers had been discovered, Johnson would have had to “explain to Britain's allies why we are invading a long-standing NATO ally”, the Guardian quotes the book.
Ultimately, Johnson had to recognize that such a plan would have been foolish. He explained: “Of course I knew Chalmers was right.” The EU has at times threatened to ban exports, further fueling the dispute over vaccine deliveries.
