Engineer dies of suspected cardiac arrest during cricket match
A 31-year-old engineer died of suspected cardiac arrest after collapsing while playing cricket in Pradhikaran, Nigdi. Police have registered a death notice pending investigation into the cause.
Officials of Nigdi police station said the deceased Abhijit Gowardhan Chaudhari lived at Padmini Society in Pradhikaran and worked as an engineer in a private company.
“Our initial information suggests that Chaidhari was playing cricket with his friends when he started feeling uncomfortable and subsequently collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said Inspector Shatrughna Mali, in-charge of Nigdi police station.
“Although initial observations indicate a death due to cardiac arrest, we have registered an incident of death pending an investigation into the sequence of events leading to his death. We will rely on observations and reports from the doctors,” said senior inspector Mali.
