Sources close to Buckingham Palace have denied that Boris Johnson asked Prince Harry to give a manly pep talk in January 2020 to persuade him not to step down from royal duties.

The former prime minister claims in his new book, Unleashed, that officials in the palace and Downing Street asked him to intervene, which he described as completely desperate.

But sources familiar with these meetings told The Telegraph that no such request was made.

It comes as Prince Harry made a surprise appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon during a solo visit to New York for a series of charity activities.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales is watching a moving ballet performance in London and continuing her gradual return to work after completing chemotherapy.

Kate, 42, later praised the performance on the official Kensington Palace channel, where she described Giselle's performance at the Sadlers Wells Theater as creative at its best.

Other upcoming engagements for the princess include the National Remembrance Service in Whitehall and the annual Christmas Carol Service in Westminster, meetings for which she has already attended.

I haven't always felt great sympathy for Prince Harry. A dramatic departure from home; Interview with Oprah; and the commercialization of his royal status. It all made it more difficult to feel for a man who had gone through terrible times and whose marriage had torn him apart from his family in a truly sad way.

But any feelings of conflict were quelled by the news that Prince Harry had to endure manly words of encouragement from Boris Johnson at the height of the crisis, which ultimately led to his departure from the UK. I am now without question on the Duke of Sussex's side.

Unusually, the revelations about this meeting are believed to have come from the former prime minister rather than the garrulous prince. The former prime minister was probably hoping his memoir would come even vaguely close to Harry's Spare in terms of sales figures.

The king has reportedly been asked to switch up his formal attire for an island vibe when he joins world leaders at a key Commonwealth summit in Samoa next month.

Samoa Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Matapa asked those attending the meeting to dress comfortably, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

The King is the head of the Commonwealth and will be the first head of state to preside over a gathering of presidents and prime ministers at an event hosted by Samoa, which Prime Minister Keir Starmer will also attend.

One woman said she hugged the King when he visited Holyrood because he was unwell.

Yvonne Macmillan, 59, from East Renfrewshire, spoke to Charles while attending a special event marking the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.

The King was diagnosed with cancer in February of this year and received treatment shortly after.

He has now returned to public life and Mrs Macmillan told the PA news agency: I asked him if he felt better and if I could give him a hug. I actually told him this. Can I hug you?
