Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday slammed Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge for his remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he had dragged the Prime Minister “unnecessarily” into his health issues personal.

At a campaign rally on Sunday, Kharge nearly fainted while addressing the crowd. As he regained his strength, he declared that he would not die before seeing Modi ousted from power.

Amit Shah called the remark distasteful and shameful.

Yesterday, Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji outdid himself, his leaders and his party by being distasteful and shameful in his speech. In a bitter show of spite, he unnecessarily dragged PM Modi into his personal health problems by saying that he would die only after removing PM Modi from power, wrote Amit Shah on X.

Amit Shah said the remark showed how much hatred and fear “these Congressmen have towards Prime Minister Modi”.

He said Congress leaders are constantly thinking about Prime Minister Modi.

“As for the health of Mr. Kharge Ji, Modi Ji prays, I pray and we all pray that he lives a long and healthy life. May he continue to live for many more years and may he live to see the creation of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he added.

What had Mallikarjun Kharge said?

Mallikarjun Kharge suffered a “fainting attack” during the rally. He, however, resumed his speech after a brief break and said he would not die before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is removed from power.

“I am 83 years old. I am not going to die so soon. I will stay alive until Prime Minister Modi is removed from power,” Kharge said while resuming his speech.

“I wanted to speak. But due to dizziness, I sat down. Please forgive me,” he added.

Later, Kharge went to Kathua District Hospital for a check-up.

“He suffered a syncopal attack (fainting). He was brought here for evaluation. He was facing increased sweating,” a doctor told PTI.
