Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with his Jamaican counterpart Andrew Holness in New Delhi on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
The bilateral meeting was followed by delegation-level talks between the two leaders.
The visiting Jamaican Prime Minister met Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House here in the national capital earlier today.
The Jamaican Prime Minister is on an official visit to India from September 30 to October 3. This is his first visit to India, and also the first ever bilateral visit by a Jamaican Prime Minister to India.
Previously, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Holness met several times on the sidelines of multilateral meetings.
Ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Modi today, Mr. Holness offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness arrived in New Delhi on Monday September 30, 2024 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking his first ever visit to India. The Jamaican Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by the Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary.
India and Jamaica share strong historical and cultural ties, reflected in their common colonial past, their values of democracy and freedom and their passion for cricket, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral relations, strengthen economic cooperation and solidify the long-standing ties between Jamaica and India.
