Men's tennis performs well at Liberty Hidden Dual
LYNCHBURG, Va. The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team enjoyed a successful weekend at Liberty University. The weekend event was played in a hidden duals format and featured host Flames as well as Elon, Navy and Virginia.
The first day was a joint match between Elon and Navy, where the Quakers won 5-3 in singles and 2-2 in doubles.
Penn continued to win the final two days, winning 5-3 over Virginia (a team that made it to the quarterfinals of last year's NCAA Championship) on Saturday and then 6-2 over Liberty on Sunday.
Freshmen Shaurya Bharadwaj, Sanjeev Chundu And Justin Chung all made their Penn debuts. Tal Goodman and Bharadwaj shot a perfect 3-0 in singles with a 2-1 record in doubles. Matthew Rutter was also undefeated in singles, winning his matches on Friday and Sunday.
