WESTLAND, Mich. (FOX 2) – Friday's home game at John Glenn High School in Westland ended with injured police officers and scores of youths in custody.

Westland police said Monday that several fights broke out between youths as fans left the game against Wayne Memorial last week around 7:30 p.m. When police tried to break up the fighting, several officers were attacked.

According to police, one officer was struck several times, while another suffered a concussion and neck problems during the altercation. An officer's body camera was also stolen, but was later recovered.

Twelve youths were arrested and two were transferred to the Wayne County Youth Home on charges including assault and battery on a police officer. The police are also investigating other possible persons involved.

The chaos led to changes that will impact the future of gaming. Following a meeting between police and the Wayne Westland Community School District, new policies have been implemented:

• Guest Restrictions: All football players, band members and cheerleaders are allowed to bring five guests to games.
• Guest Submission: Players, band members and cheerleaders must submit the names of their guests to their coach or director no later than the Thursday before the game.
• Ticket Purchase: All listed guests must purchase a ticket via GoFan, or have a KLAA or family pass and show photo ID at the entrance.
• Adult Supervision: All minors attending the game MUST have an adult present.
• Spectator Restrictions: No other spectators are allowed to attend matches until further notice.
