Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a tour of Maharashtra on Saturday, launching a series of initiatives in Washim and Mumbai that highlight his government's focus on agricultural development and urban infrastructure.

In Washim, Modi will inaugurate agriculture and livestock related projects worth around 23,300 billion. Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the fifth tranche of the NaMo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, distributing approximately 2,000 billion. It is also expected to dedicate more than 7,500 projects under the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund, with a total value of more than 1,920 million.

“These projects include contract recruitment centers, primary processing units, warehouses and cold storage facilities, all aimed at modernizing our agricultural infrastructure,” the spokesperson added.

Modi's visit to Washim will culminate in the engagement of 9,200 farmer producer organizations in the country, with a combined turnover of around 1,300 million. It will also launch a unified genomic chip for cattle and indigenous sex-sorted sperm technology, marking significant advancements in breeding.

After his engagements in Washim, the Prime Minister will travel to Mumbai, where he will address a public meeting in Thane. He will inaugurate and lay the first stones of various development projects worth more than 32,800 crore in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The key to these initiatives is the 12,200 crore Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project and the 3,310-crore Eastern Expressway elevated extension from Chheda Nagar to Anand Nagar in Thane. Modi will also lay the foundation stone of Phase 1 of the Navi Mumbai Airport Notified Zone of Influence project, valued at approx. 2,550 million.

The Prime Minister's visit to Mumbai will be punctuated by an important milestone in the city's transport network.
