Imran Khan's sisters arrested at D-Chowk amid PTI protest call

The two sisters of the former Prime Minister were transferred to the police station

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad Police arrested PTI founder Imran Khan's sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan from D-Chowk on Friday.

According to details, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan were arrested from D-Chowk during the PTI protest call as Section 144 was already imposed in the federal capital.

The two sisters of the former Prime Minister were transferred to the police station.

Earlier, several incidents of clashes were reported between PTI workers and police.

Police also fired tear gas shells to disperse PTI workers who were keen to reach D-Chowk.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said PTI's desire to hold a protest at D-Chowk would not materialize.

Speaking to the media at D-Chowk, Naqvi said he had yesterday requested that no protests take place. He said the government wanted to convey to foreign guests that they were visiting a peaceful country.

The interior minister said none of his police officers were armed and that if shots were fired they would identify the source. He stressed that videos showed people arriving with weapons, but that the government's strategy would not be disclosed in advance.

He further mentioned that 63 Afghans have been arrested so far, noting that Afghan nationals were also arrested during the previous protest.
