We begin the other headlines of the day at the Supreme Court.

The justices agreed to leave in place two EPA rules aimed at reducing methane and mercury emissions from the oil and gas industry. Republican-led states and industry groups have asked the high court to suspend the rules, arguing that the standards are — quote — “impossible to meet.”

But the justices will consider challenging Mexico's $10 billion lawsuit against U.S. arms makers when they officially begin their terms on Monday. The case involves allegations that the company's business practices contributed to the trafficking of illegal weapons to drug cartels.

And the high court will rule on who will have the right to say where nuclear waste is stored, particularly on whether to license it to a private company in West Texas.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights says the death toll from a gang raid in central Haiti yesterday has risen to at least 70 people, including women and children. The attack took place in the town of Pont-Sonde, about 60 miles north of the capital Port-au-Prince. Video captured near the scene showed hordes of people frantically fleeing the attack. Witnesses say they saw bodies with gunshot wounds scattered in the streets.

The attack has been attributed to the Gran Grif gang, one of the most brutal groups in the country, but the motive remains unclear.

In Pakistan, police today clashed with anti-government protesters in Islamabad who were demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from prison. Authorities had tried to lock down the town by blocking roads with shipping containers and cutting cell phone service, but dozens of Khan's supporters managed to get through. They were met with tear gas, but remained defiant.
