Fran Drescher joins Timothe Chalamet in Marty Supreme
Queens is in the building! Fran DrescherBest known for her role as Fran Fine in 'The Nanny' and for her current role as president of SAG-AFTRA, teams with another Queens booster, Josh Safdie. Drescher has signed up to play Timothée Chalametthe character's mother in Safdie's ping pong drama 'Marty Supreme' Variety reports.
'Marty Supreme', from A24, follows a table tennis professional in the 1950s. The film is reportedly inspired by the life of influential table tennis champion Marty Reisman, but is fictionalized and not a biopic. Oscar nominee Chalamet stars in the film. It went viral earlier this week photos of him in a 1950s dork costume on the New York set of the film appeared on the Internet.
The film's eccentric cast also includes Chalamet and Drescher Gwyneth Paltrowrapper Tyler, the Creator in his acting debut, Odessa Azion, Penn Jillette“Shark Tank” personality Kevin “Mr. Awesome'O'Learyand filmmaker Abel Ferrara. The script is by Safdie and she regularly collaborates Ronald Bronstein.
