Jokowi said that the delivery of the names of KPK leaders and candidates to the House of Representatives is waiting for the administration to be completed by the State Secretariat.
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo received documents on the results of the selection of leadership candidates and supervisory board candidates of the Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK of the selection committee. Jokowi said the submission of the 20 names of KPK chief leaders and Dewas candidates to the People's Representative Council or DPR was still completing the administrative process.
“(The submission to the DPR) awaits the completion of the administration of the State Secretariat (State Secretariat),” Jokowi told IKN, quoted in his press release via YouTube from the Presidential Secretariat, Sunday, October 6, 2024 .
He revealed that once the administrative process is completed, the documents resulting from the selection of Capim and Dewas candidates will be immediately signed. Once signed, the head of state will submit the document to the House of Representatives.
Jokowi has two weeks to submit a list of names of KPK leaders and candidates to the House of Representatives. Jokowi received the final selection results document from the selection committee on October 1, 2024.
The rules governing the maximum document submission limit for the names of KPK Director Generals and Dewas candidates for DPR are contained in Article 30(9) of the KPK Law. Despite this, the President's Special Staff for Legal Affairs, Dini Purwono, said there was no specific date for the names to be submitted by Jokowi.
“So far there is no specific date regarding the submission of names to the House of Representatives,” Dini said, Thursday, October 3, 2024.
Later, Jokowi's submission of the names of KPK leader and Dewas candidates to the House of Representatives was rejected. Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society or MAKI, Boyamin Saiman, said that President Jokowi has no right to submit a list of names of KPK directors general and Dewas candidates to the House of Representatives.

The basis for the ban, Boyamin said, was the decision of the court or MK number 112/PUU-XX/2022 page 118, first paragraph. In its decision, the Constitutional Court stated that the power to hand over the results of the final selection of KPK and Dewas candidates lies in the hands of the President for the period 2024-2029, namely Prabowo Subianto.
“However, if the tenure regime of KPK leaders is used for 5 (five) years, then the selection or recruitment of KPK leaders will only be carried out once by the President and the DPR for the period 2019-2024 , namely in December 2019, while the selection or recruitment aims to fill the KPK leadership position. The period 2024-2029 will be carried out by the President and the DPR for the following period (period 2024-2029),” as written in the decision of the Constitutional Court.
However, the Palace does not have a substantive issue regarding who will submit the names of KPK leadership candidates and supervisory board candidates to the House of Representatives. Dini claimed that the transmission of the names of KPK Capim and Cadevas to the House of Representatives was only administrative in nature. The reason, said Dini, is that these names are the result of selection by the KPK Pansel.
