Parliament to meet behind closed doors over Israeli attacks
ANKARA
Parliament will hold a closed session on October 8 to discuss Israel's ongoing military actions in the Middle East and Trkiye's response to the escalating conflict.
During the session, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defense Minister Yaar Gler are expected to brief lawmakers on Israeli attacks in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, growing regional tensions and Trkiye's security measures in a broader conflict risk context.
No journalists or outside observers will be allowed to attend the session, and details will be hidden from the public for 10 years, in accordance with parliamentary protocol.
This information session follows requests from the presidents of the opposition parties.
“We want information on the security issue in Trkiye. We want to know if there is a threat in the Israeli issue,” the head of the Republican People's Party (CHP), the main party of Israel, told reporters on October 3. opposition.
His call comes after President Recep Tayyip Erdoan warned on October 1 that “the next place Israel will set its eyes on will be Trkiye.”

“If the president expresses such a clear threat against the Turkish Republic, he must explain it with concrete reasons,” he added.

Erdoan also criticized those who advocate for Trkiye to remain neutral in the face of escalating tensions.
“We are facing a network of occupation that intends to set fire to the entire region. No one with an iota of conscience can remain silent in the face of such a network of massacres,” Erdoan said.
“Just as Hitler was stopped when he saw himself under the microscope, Netanyahu will be stopped in the same way.”
