Michigan will have an interactive exhibit on the science and history of hockey
DEARBORN, MI – An exhibit on the history of hockey is about to open in Michigan, featuring a number of Detroit Red Wings items.
Ice hockey: faster than ever will be at The Henry Ford in Dearborn from Sunday, October 13 through January 5, 2025.
The exhibition will look at the technical advances and scientific breakthroughs that have shaped the sport over the decades; from technology to the physics of the game.
The exhibition is produced by Flying Fish in collaboration with the Montral Science Center and support from the NHL and the NHLPA.
“By partnering with the Montral Science Center, we were able to create a unique experience that celebrates both sport and science,” said Jay Brown, Director and General Manager of Flying Fish. Our intention was to show how technology, physics and innovation have transformed the game throughout history. We are thrilled with the result, an exhibition that will fascinate sports enthusiasts and curious minds alike.”
The exhibit features Red Wings artifacts provided in partnership with the team, including jerseys and equipment including game-worn jerseys from the Russian Five, actual signs from Joe Louis Arena and more.
The exhibit will also feature game-worn gear from Michiganders, Kirsten Simms and Megan Keller of the U.S. Womens National Team, including their jerseys from the International Ice Hockey Federation 2024 Womens World Championship.
Visitors can also test their skills and knowledge with a variety of interactive features, including measuring your slapshot speed.
“Hockey: Faster Than Ever” is free to members and included with admission to The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village.
