India and Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna not taking the field on day three of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-C match against Madhya Pradesh here at the Holkar Stadium raised fresh concerns over the fitness of the speedsters.
The 28-year-old, who was named as the traveling reserve late on Friday for India's three-Test series against New Zealand from October 16 in Bengaluru, bowled just eight overs here on the first day, also Friday.
Only recently did he make a comeback at the Duleep Trophy. This followed an eight-month absence due to a quadriceps injury, which he incidentally suffered in his previous Ranji Trophy match, against Gujarat in January, where he bowled just 14.5 overs.
While there was no official confirmation as to what was wrong with the speedster,The Hinduunderstands that he experienced some discomfort while running on opening day. It is to be noted that the rain-affected outfield at the Holkar Stadium was inadequate and a majority of the Karnataka players struggled. So much so that an entire day of play on Saturday was cancelled.
Prasidh is highly rated by the Indian think tank, and his form and physical well-being are important for India's five-Test tour of Australia starting late next month.
Even if it was a precaution that he was on the sidelines in Indore, Karnataka missed him badly as he was a bowler who fell short in his quest to bowl out MP and was hoping to secure the lead in the first innings.
