AUSTIN, TexasNo. 1/1 Texas Football fell 30-15 to No. 5/4 Georgia on Saturday at Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.
Quinn Ewers passed for 211 yards and two touchdowns for the Longhorns.
The Longhorns intercepted Carson Beck twice in the first quarter, including an interception by Jahdae Barron while the Bulldogs had the ball all the way to the Texas 18-yard line. Andreas Mukuba recorded the first interception for Texas.
Trailing 23-0 at halftime Quinn Ewers led the Longhorns on an eight-play, 55-yard drive that ended with a two-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Bond. Ewers passed back to Bond to complete a two-point conversion.
Jahdae Barron made his second interception of the game and the 10eteam interception for Texas as Georgia drove at their 45-yard line. Barron returned the ball 36 yards to the Bulldogs' nine-yard line. After a layoff from Georgia, Ewers connected Jaydon Blue for a 17-yard touchdown pass to cut the Georgia lead to 23-15.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to 30-15 with a touchdown run at the 12:04 mark of the fourth quarter.
The Longhorns set a Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium attendance record with 105,215 fans at the game.
NEXT
Texas travels to Nashville, Tenn., to take on Vanderbilt on Saturday, Oct. 26 for a game at FirstBank Stadium. The playing time is set at 3:15 p.m.
