Donald Trump fact-checked in interview with Fox News

Ahead of the 2024 election, former President Donald Trump was fact-checked several times during a Sunday Fox News interview with Howard Kurtz.

As the 2024 presidential race enters its final stretch, in which Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, will face Vice President Kamala Harris, both campaigns have continued to conduct television interviews with the goal to convince the remaining undecided voters.

In an interview Sunday on Fox News' Media Buzz, Kurtz spoke with Trump on a wide range of topics.

However, during the interview, which was pre-recorded, Kurtz pressed several of his Trump claims, fact-checking him on points related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and his false claims involving migrants Haitians in Springfield, Ohio.

Asked about his previous comments at a town hall hosted by Univision, in which he called January 6 “the day of love” and the backlash that followed, Trump doubled down on his reasons for making that REMARK.

“A small group of people came down to the capital and then a lot of strange things happened, including the police bringing them into the capital, you know. So I'm not referring to that, which I say, that's what I saw that day, there was a huge crowd in front of these magnificent monuments, it was a demonstration… no one was killed, no one had weapons. here either,” Trump said.

This prompted Kurtz to intervene, saying: “There were people with guns. »

In response, Trump replied: “Really? I'd like to know… Really, I didn't hear that at all. No. I don't think so. They didn't have guns.”

While Trump and others have claimed that there were no guns among the protesters that day, there is substantial and clear evidence that there were armed protesters, as several between them have since been charged with carrying firearms.

Of the more than 800 people charged in connection with the Jan. 6 riots, more than 85 have been accused of using a deadly or dangerous weapon or causing serious injury to a police officer.

Additionally, after airing this interview segment, Kurtz verified on air by stating, “To clarify, the police did not bring the protesters into the Capitol. They were totally overrun, although in some cases they were able to retreat tactically. Meanwhile, speaking about false claims that Haitian migrants in Springfield were killing pets and eating them, Kurtz challenged Trump on his claims by asking why he didn't say they weren't true .

In response, Trump said, “I don't know if that's true or not,” prompting Kurtz to respond by saying, “You don't know? This has been debunked. »

This isn't the first time Kurtz has fact-checked the Trump campaign. In April, during an appearance on Fox News, Karoline Leavitt, national press secretary for Trump's 2024 campaign, was asked by Kurtz about the silence order, which she called an attempt by Democratic political forces to silence him.
