Two former Penn State football players are accused of rape and sex crimes

Former Penn State defensive backs Jameial J. Lyons and Kaveion A. Keys are facing multiple felony charges, according to lawsuits filed Tuesday. Lyons and Keys were dismissed from the Penn State football team on August 3.

Lyons, 19, of Philadelphia, is charged with rape, aggravated assault without consent, voluntarily deviating from sexual intercourse and aggravated individual assault without consent. He also faces two misdemeanor charges: indecent assault without consent of others and invasion of privacy without consent.

Keys, 19, of Richmond, Virginia, is charged with rape, aggravated indecent assault without consent and sexual assault. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault without the consent of others.

Lyons and Keys are currently scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at 2 p.m. with a preliminary hearing on Oct. 30 at 8:30 a.m., according to records. Magisterial District Judge Donald M. Hahn has been assigned the case. Bret Pallotto of the Center Daily Times first reported on the situation.

These charges stem from an alleged event on July 7, although no probable cause affidavit has yet been released.

Lyons played in eight games as a freshman and burned his redshirt. After recording 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack, he was widely considered a breakout candidate in Penn States' defensive end group.
