Reopening of Kasbah Tamadot Virgin

I am thrilled to reopen Kasbah Tamadot, our stunning Moroccan boutique hotel in the Atlas Mountains. It was partially closed last year after the area was hit by an earthquake.

I visited a few days after the earthquake, and even in the face of adversity, it was inspiring to see the generosity and warmth of the Berber people, even when many of them had lost family members and homes.

I was very proud to see the Kasbah Tamadot team and the Berber communities coming together to support the relief effort alongside the Eve Branson Foundation, raising over £1 million for the Earthquake Emergency Relief Fund. During the rebuilding, all Kasbah staff continued to work and the Berber tents remained open to support tourism and relief efforts in the surrounding areas.

We've always said we would bring back Kasbah Tamadot better than ever, and I'm so grateful to all the wonderful people who helped make it happen.

We celebrated with an opening party and were all geared up and ready to go. The place looked stunning with candles floating in the pool and the light casting a beautiful glow on the Kasbah. It couldn't have looked better…and then the skies opened up with torrential rain (which in Morocco is fortunately considered a sign of good luck as it is very rare). Fortunately, after the earthquake, we decided to move the animal shelter and turn it instead into a luxury dining space, so we still had a place to dance and celebrate.

It is a testament to our staff at Kasbah how amazing the new property is. 100% of our employees at Kasbah are Moroccans, and without their tremendous flexibility, we would not be here today. I know my mom would be just as proud.

We've also expanded and added six new sports. Each one is beautifully unique, located in a newly landscaped area, with panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains and breathtaking rivers. This riad truly feels like a special addition to the Kasbah. As beautiful as Riyadh is, what makes it even more special is how it is connected to the heart of this place. The interiors are designed with handcrafted furnishings by local artisans, with support from the Eve Branson Foundation, which helps train and support the local community. Living here, I feel very connected to my mother's heritage and I know she will love it.
