SAN LUCAS, Calif. — A minor earthquake struck an area 22 kilometers east-northeast of San Lucas on Monday, leaving some residents on edge.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the 2.8-magnitude earthquake occurred at 7:20 a.m. Pacific time. It originated at a depth of 6.5 kilometers, causing a mild tremor in the area. Although the earthquake was small, tremors were felt in nearby areas.

According to USGS data, earthquakes of this size usually do not cause significant damage but serve as a reminder of seismic activity in California. Residents are encouraged to report their experiences in the USGS “Did You Feel It?” A page to contribute to citizen science efforts.
