A man was pushed by Pakistani security forces out of a pile of cargo containers on Tuesday during protests against the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The man was praying on top of the container when security forces “brutally pushed him from a height equivalent to three stories,” the BBC reported, citing Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI).

The party said the incident was one of the examples of police brutality.

There is no update on the man's condition.

The incident took place on the corner of Jinnah and Attaurk avenues in Islamabad on Tuesday, the report said.

Video of the incident was shared on social media. In the viral video clip, officers could be seen carrying shields with a symbol indicating their affiliation with the Pakistan Rangers. They walked over to a man who knelt on top of the container and pushed him.

The man tried to hold on to the containers before falling off the edge.

About six people, including four security officials and two civilians, died during the protests.

Several supporters of Imran Khan staged a protest in central Islamabad on Tuesday to demand the release of the former prime minister.

Protesters said they would not leave the capital until Khan was released. The former prime minister was arrested on various criminal charges, including fraud.

When protesters reached Democracy Square on Tuesday, police pushed them back by firing tear gas.

The protests were temporarily suspended due to government brutality,” the report said, quoting a PTI statement.

The party claimed that the government of Pakistan launched an attack on peaceful protesters by firing live ammunition with the intention of killing as many people as possible, it added.

The party also said many of its employees had been killed during the protests and called for an investigation.

Nearby hospitals confirmed that four civilian bodies with gunshot wounds had been received, according to the report.

Pakistani police arrested more than 500 PTI supporters, he added, citing local media.

The capital was put on lockdown and reinforced security forces were deployed due to the protests.

The protesters were led by PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur and Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi.
