New York (CNN) A cybersecurity attack is preventing some customers from getting their donuts at Krispy Kreme, the company revealed Wednesday.
The chain said in a regulatory statement that it detected unauthorized activity late last month on some of its technology, which continues to cause some operational disruptions, including its online ordering feature for parts of the United States.
Krispy Kreme said the hack would likely hurt its bottom line due to lost revenue from disrupted online orders, paying cybersecurity experts and the cost of restoring its systems.
Federal law enforcement has been notified of the hack and the scale, nature and impact of the incident are not yet known, Krispy Kreme said.
Its 400 U.S. locations are open for in-person ordering and delivery to Krispy Kremes partners, such as grocery stores and nearly 2,000 stores. McDonald's restaurants are not affected.
In addition to expanding its partnership with McDonalds this year, Krispy Kreme recently announced that it has sold a majority stake in the Insomnia Cookies brand to private equity firms as part of its focus on providing fresh donuts.
Krispy Kreme (DNUT) became public for the second time in 2021. The stock fell about 1% in premarket trading and is down 30% for the year.
