Glavin sets 2025 men's tennis spring campaign
WICHITA, Kan. Wichita State head men's tennis coach Darth Glavin concluded and announced his group's 2025 dual competition season on Friday afternoon.
A challenging schedule awaits the Shockers in 2025 as the schedule features 22 dual matches, 12 of which will be against opponents that finished last year in the final ITA top 75 poll on June 10.
“It will be a very challenging schedule for us, but that is what we want as a competitive team,” said Glavin. “To improve and develop we need to be challenged, and this year's schedule is designed to reflect that.”
Tennis teams in the American Athletic Conference do not play a regular two-match schedule, but the Shockers will face six of the 11 AAC men's tennis teams this upcoming season.
The 2025 Shockers will have a new look compared to last season. Five new faces, one transfer and four freshmen will join the roster, and Coach Glavin will be joined by two new assistant coaches this season.
After a disappointing, injury-plagued year last year, Glavin wants his group to bounce back and succeed in a challenging schedule.
“I know this team will be ready for whatever comes our way this year,” Glavin said. “This year we're happy to have a lot of depth and options in the lineup that we haven't had in years past.”
The coaching staff expects a much improved team in 2025 and expects the team to rise up and compete against greater competition leading to success in the postseason.
“Our goals are and always will be to compete for championships,” Glavin said. “We want to make sure we continue to grow and develop every day.”
