Ali Amin Gandapur misled foreign media in KP, says Information Minister

Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of misleading foreign media during today's press briefing in Peshawar.

He termed the Gandapur allegations as false, inflammatory and damaging to national unity, Express News reported.

Speaking to the media, Tarar stressed the importance of presenting facts to counter Gandapur's claims. He criticized the PTI leader's tendency to issue provocative statements, saying: “These baseless accusations are the hallmark of their divisive politics.”

Tarar recounted past incidents involving PTI leaders, including their 2014 attack on PTV headquarters, which targeted law enforcement officers. He alleged that PTI leaders encourage violent protests but abandon their supporters when confronted by authorities.

Referring to Gandapur's recent comment that PTI's next call for protests would not be peaceful, Atta Tarar asked, “Were any of your previous protests peaceful?” He accused the party of fabricating stories, including mass casualties, and disseminating false images via artificial intelligence.

The minister also slammed former First Lady Bushra Bibi for allegedly instigating PTI workers, questioning why she and Gandapur fled the scene during the protests, leaving their supporters stranded.

Tarar highlighted the PTI's failure to handle provincial affairs, saying the party had failed politically, morally and administratively. He reiterated the government's commitment to holding those responsible for the events of May 9 to account, saying the nation would never forget the actions of that day.

He further accused the PTI of orchestrating propaganda campaigns against national institutions on social media.

The accusations came after Gandapur, in a conversation with foreign media, expressed his commitment to follow all directives of PTI founder Imran Khan, including a call for civil disobedience.

Earlier in the day, addressing representatives of international media at the Chief Minister's House in Peshawar, Gandapur said that the law and order situation in the country had deteriorated since the coalition of Democratic Movement of Pakistan (PDM) took power, adding that state institutions were concerned about the dismantling of the PTI. instead of addressing national challenges.
