Women's tennis faces a major challenge with the upcoming spring schedule
The Sint-Jozef women's tennis team will be challenged as head coach in the coming months Jeff Puhan has announced the team's spring roster.
“This upcoming season will be a challenge for this young team,” Puhan said. “We will play five nationally ranked opponents and eight Atlantic 10 opponents on the road.”
The Hawks kick off a cross-town rivalry when they visit Penn on Jan. 20 before hosting Temple on Jan. 24 at the Springton Tennis Club. Two more home games follow in Springton with Seton Hall and Loyola Maryland before a trip to NJIT in February. 14.
Hofstra comes to Springton on Feb. 21 before a visit to Lehigh and a home game against Delaware State close out the month. The Hawks will next host conference foe Duquesne on March 2 at the SJU Tennis Complex before embarking on a Spring Break training trip to Boca Raton, Florida.
Three home games await the Hawks after the break, with George Washington visiting Hawk Hill on March 7 before both Coppin State and Le Moyne are scheduled for March 15. The Hawks will then play four of the next five away from home, with a game at Villanova for a home game against Rider, a trip to St. Bonaventure to take on both the Bonnies and Dayton, and a visit to Bucknell to end March to close.
SJU opens April with a home game against Delaware before visiting Drexel and George Mason. A home game against the US Naval Academy precedes a trip to the Virginia capital to take on both VCU and Richmond before a visit from Fordham closes out the regular season.
The Atlantic 10 Championship will be held again April 24-27 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. The Hawks hope to use the challenges of the regular season to prepare for a run in the tournament.
