Imran Khan warns of freezing remittances over unmet demands, Aleema

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has threatened to call for a halt to remittances if his demands remain unmet, according to a statement by his sister, Aleema Khan, reported ARY News.

According to reports, Imran Khan's sister spoke to the media outside Adiala jail, saying the founder reiterated his stand three times: a judicial commission comprising three judges of the Court Supreme Court must be formed and innocent prisoners must be released.

Aleema Khan quoted Imran Khan as saying that if these two demands were not met, he would soon call for a halt to remittances to Pakistan.

She claimed that millions of people have fallen below the poverty line after the overthrow of the PTI government and citizens are grappling with economic difficulties.

Aleema Khan said that overseas Pakistanis are ready to stop sending their remittances to the country as elites take their dollars abroad while poor workers toil abroad to send dollars back home. Pakistan.

She further alleged that Imran Khan believed there was a “London plan” to systematically crush the PTI, by depriving the party of its electoral symbol in a phased programme.

This is not the first time that Aleema Khan has conveyed a message from incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan. On December 6, she warned the government to launch a civil disobedience movement if Imran Khan's demands were not met.

Speaking to the media outside the prison, Imran Khan's sister Aleema said the former prime minister, currently in jail, had announced two key demands: the release of political prisoners facing trial and the constitution of a judicial commission responsible for investigating the events of May 9, 2023., and the repression of November 26 against PTI demonstrators.
