A display of the Hockey Hall of Fameincluding the Conn Smythe Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy, will be displayed at Hockey Heritage Fan Fest on Saturday, January 18, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM at Wings Event Center.
Fan Fest, presented by Discover! Kalamazoo And Firefighters will feature interactive games, player autographs and balloon animals. There will also be an open skate from 2 to 6 p.m. A ticket for the Toledo vs. Kalamazoo Hockey Heritage Game on January 18 is required to gain entry to Fan Fest. CLICK HERE buy tickets.
The Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded annually to the Most Valuable Player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, has been awarded twice to ECHL alumni, with Boston's Tim Thomas receiving the trophy in 2011 and Los Angeles' Jonathan Quick in 2012.
The Ted Lindsay Award is presented annually to the National Hockey League's most outstanding regular-season player as judged by the members of the NHL Players' Association.
The Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy is awarded annually to the best goal scorer in the NHL.
Various exhibitions from the Hockey Hall of Fame will also be at Fan Fest, including: Origins of the Game; Legends of the Game; ECHL All-Star History and ECHL Early Years, along with an emphasis on the history of hockey in the Kalamazoo area.
The 2025 Warrior/ECHL Hockey Heritage Week presented by Discover! Kalamazoo And Firefighters includes the 17th class induction into the ECHL Hall of Fame on Friday, January 17, and the Hockey Heritage Game at the Wings Event Center on Saturday, January 18 between the Toledo Walleye and Kalamazoo Wings.
About the ECHL
Founded in 1988-89 with five teams in four states, the ECHL has grown into a coast-to-coast league with 29 teams in 22 states and one Canadian province for its 37th season in 2024-25. There have been 755 players who went on to play in the National Hockey League after starting their careers in the ECHL, including three who made their NHL debuts in the 2024-2025 season. The ECHL has ties with 29 of the 32 NHL teams in 2024-2025, marking the 27th consecutive season the league has tied with at least 20 teams in the NHL.
