Officially dismissed by the PDIP, Jokowi and Gibran respond in unison as follows:
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) this week officially dismissed the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the current Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka from party cadres carrying the bull symbol.
In fact, the dismissal was noted in Decree Number 1649/KPTS/DPP/XII/2024. The PDIP fired Jokowi, Gibran and Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution, along with 27 other party officials. The decision was read by Chairman of the PDIP DPP Honorary Division Komarudin Watubun.
“I received a direct order from the General Chairman of PDIP to officially announce, in accordance with the party statutes and statutes, in front of all ranks of DPD party chairmen throughout Indonesia. The DPP Party will announce the decision letter to fire Joko Widodo's brother, brother Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and brother Bobby Nasution and 27 other members who were fired,” Komarudin said as in the video received by Detikcom, Monday (16/12/2024).
So what was Jokowi and Gibran's response?
Jokowi stressed that he had no problem with his dismissal as a PDIP cadre. He respected the decision. “Yes, it's good, it's good, I respect that,” Jokowi said, quoting Detikcom, when meeting at his home in Sumber Village, Solo, quoted on Saturday (12/21/2024).
Jokowi said he would not defend himself or give an assessment regarding his and his family's dismissal. Furthermore, said Jokowi, the dismissal was also decided.
“And I’m not in a position to defend myself or pass judgment because the decision has already been made,” he said.
Jokowi said times would be difficult regarding the dismissal. “Later time will test him, I think that’s all,” he concluded.
When asked if he would return the PDIP membership card (KTA) he still kept, Jokowi was reluctant to answer. He just laughed.
Gibran respects the decision of the PDIP. Currently, Gibran will focus on assisting President Prabowo Subianto as vice president. “We appreciate and respect the party's decision,” Gibran said at the Indonesian Air Base, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, last Tuesday (12/17/2024).
“Currently, personally, I will focus more on helping President Prabowo,” he continued.
When asked if he would join which party, Gibran answered briefly. “Wait,” Gibran added.
