Ambler Tennis Stadium Accessibility
- Accessible parking and drop-off location: Disabled parking is available in the Card Lot on Towerview Road (GPS: 320 Towerview Road). A state-issued ADA parking placard or license plate is required (one vehicle per placard). A parking attendant will grant guests access and direct them to designated areas next to the stadium. Accessible drop-off and pick-up points are located in the Card Lot, directly outside Ambler Tennis Stadium.
- Accessible seating: Accessible seating is located under the trees next to Court #5. An accessible ramp from the sidewalk provides access to this seating area.
- Accessible toilets: Restrooms with accessible accommodations are located beneath the elevated seating area of ​​Ambler Tennis Stadium.
Accessibility of the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Centre
- Accessible parking and drop-off location: Disabled parking is available in the Card Lot on Towerview Road (GPS: 320 Towerview Road). Guests can access this entrance via an accessible sidewalk from the Card Lot. The entrance leads directly to the ground floor, where there is a lift that takes guests to the elevated seating area. Doors open one (1) hour before the match.
- Accessible seating: Accessible seating is located in the raised seating area in the space between the bleachers.
- Accessible toilets: Guests who are less accessible can use the elevator from the seating area to the lower floor, where accessible toilets are available.
It is strictly prohibited to bring alcohol into the Ambler Tennis Stadium or the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. Individuals who violate this policy will be removed from the institution.
Duke Athletics welcomes trained service animals to both the Ambler Tennis Stadium and the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to perform tasks for individuals with disabilities, including physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disabilities. Service animals must be kept under control, on a leash or tethered at all times unless it interferes with their duties. They should not show aggression, bark, growl or whine unless trained to do so as a warning signal. Service animals should not solicit food or disrupt the environment. Current rabies vaccination labels or proof of vaccination must be provided upon request. Service animals in training have the same access rights in North Carolina and must wear identifiable equipment such as a collar, leash, harness or cape. Trainers are liable for any damage caused by the animal. Personal pets, therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, and companion dogs are not considered service animals under ADA guidelines and are not permitted in either location.
There are no ATMs at Ambler Tennis Stadium or Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. However, a Duke Federal Credit Union ATM is available at Tribull Plaza next to the Johnson Family Team Store and Duke Ticket Office. This ATM dispenses cash in $20 increments but does not accept deposits.
On match day, bags of all sizes are permitted in both the Ambler Tennis Stadium and the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Centre. All personal items will be checked by the Match Manager before entry.
Hand-held cameras are permitted for personal use only in both the Ambler Tennis Stadium and the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. Cameras with lenses longer than four (4) inches are not permitted. Video cameras may be used during pre-match warm-ups, but filming of the match is strictly prohibited.
Duke Athletics prioritizes the safety and well-being of all guests. During an emergency at Ambler Tennis Stadium or Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center, please follow these guidelines:
General emergency procedures:
- Follow the directions of the PA announcer, Duke Athletics staff and emergency responders.
- Always designate a predetermined location inside and outside the venue to meet friends and family in the event of a separation or emergency.
- When you arrive at your seat, locate the nearest exit and an alternate exit in case of an emergency.
First aid and emergency medical care:
- In the event of an emergency, please contact a Duke Athletics representative or call the Duke Police Department at (919) 684-2444.
Report suspicious activity:
- If you observe any unusual or suspicious activity, please report it to the nearest Duke Athletics representative or tweet @Duke_GAMEDAY.
Emergency vehicles:
- Emergency vehicles may be present around the location. Don't block their paths or activities. Vehicles or objects blocking escape routes, exits or paths will be removed and may be towed at the owner's expense.
Weather Precautions:
- Check the weather before the match. Take the necessary precautions in intense heat or bad weather. If severe weather occurs, be prepared to evacuate to a safe location such as the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center or your vehicle.
- In the event of tornado activity, be prepared to evacuate the stadium and follow the directions of Duke Athletics staff.
Ambler Tennis Stadium Emergency Exits:
- Seating area Stairwells: Located behind each track, at the top of the stands (stairs required).
Emergency exits Sheffield Indoor Tennis Centre:
- South entrance (upper level): Main access door above Court 6 (accessible).
- North entrance (right level): Access door behind Court 5 (stairs required from seating area).
- Emergency exits at court level: Marked exits are located behind lanes 2 and 6 (stairs required from the seating area).
All gates and doors to the Ambler Tennis Stadium and the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center will open one (1) hour before the start of the match. Fans may leave and re-enter either venue at any time during the match. All purses, bags and strollers are allowed but must be searched by the Match Manager.
Main Access Points of Ambler Tennis Stadium:
- The stairwells to the stands are located at the rear of the stadium.
- Accessible seating near Court 5 is available via an accessible ramp from the Card Lot.
Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center Main Entry Points:
- South entrance: Located above Court 6, accessible from the Blue Zone parking lot.
- North entrance: Adjacent to the outdoor practice courts, behind court 5.
Duke Athletics is committed to creating a fun, safe and family-friendly environment for all guests. To ensure a positive experience at both Ambler Tennis Stadium and Sheffield Indoor Tennis Centre, fans are expected to conduct themselves appropriately before, during and after competition. All fans, players, coaches and officials must be treated with respect and courtesy.
Prohibited behavior:
- Interfering with the ability of other guests to enjoy the match
- Using or displaying coarse or offensive language or gestures
- Appearing drunk or in a reduced capacity
- Entering the competition area or restricted access areas
- Throwing objects onto the competition site or within the venue
- Engaging in disorderly conduct
In tennis, spectator behavior can have a direct impact on the match, as inappropriate actions in the stands can result in points penalties for players. Cheer enthusiastically for the Blue Devils, but actions intended to abuse or distract opponents are not acceptable.
Violators may be deported and possibly arrested. If you notice inappropriate behavior, please contact the Match Manager, located in the seating area behind court 1.
For the safety and game day experience of all fans, the following items are prohibited from Ambler Tennis Stadium and Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center:

Duke University reserves the right to deny anyone or anything access to the sites. Such items must be returned to your vehicle and/or thrown away. All fans will be searched before entering the venues.
For the safety of all attendees, bags or items must not be left unattended outside the Ambler Tennis Stadium or the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Centre. Unattended items found outside the venues will be removed or dealt with in a manner deemed appropriate by stadium officials.
