Jairam Ramesh mocked PM Modi's podcast claim that he was human, calling it damage control following his previous “non-biological” statement.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Friday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the latter said in a podcast, hosted by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, that he was human and not God and he could make mistakes. Jairam Ramesh claimed that Modi was now in damage control after proclaiming himself non-biological.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first podcast released on Friday, said his life's mantra was that he might make mistakes, but he would not do anything wrong with bad intentions.

Reacting to Modi's statement, Ramesh wrote on X: This is coming from a man who proclaimed his non-biological status just eight months ago. This is clearly about limiting the damage.

What did Prime Minister Modi say on podcast?

During an interaction with Nikhil Kamath, Modi said: When I became the chief minister of Gujarat, I said that I would spare no effort to work hard. I won't do anything for myself. And third, I'm human and I can make mistakes. But I won't do anything bad with bad intentions. I made it a mantra of my life. Mistakes are inevitable. I must have made mistakes. I am also a human, not a God.

PM Modi's 'non-organic' comment

In an interview with a TV news channel ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Modi spoke about his intensified election activities and work routine compared to the 2019 polls.

When my mother was alive, I believed I was born biologically. After he passed away, reflecting on all my experiences, I was convinced that God had sent me. This energy cannot come from my biological body, but it has been given to me by God… whenever I do something, I believe that God guides me,” Modi had said.

Modi on idealism rather than ideology

In the podcast, Modi emphasized the importance of idealism over ideology, saying that while politics cannot be done without ideology, idealism was absolutely necessary. The Prime Minister said Mahatma Gandhi and VR Savarkar had different paths, but their ideology was freedom.
