Impendle apprentice to represent SA at the Kho Kho World Cup in India
A 20-year-old Impendle woman will represent South Africa in India in the 2025 Kho Kho World Cup matches from this weekend.
Londeka Mkhwanazi from KwaKhetha is one of five players from KwaZulu-Natal who were selected after qualifying at the national games held in Durban last year.

The other players are Slindokuhle Mosia, Senzo Khoza, Langelihle Mthethwa and Wonder Ngcobo.
The 2025 Kho Kho World Cup will be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi from January 11 to 20.
Kho Kho is a tag game that originated in India. Kho Kho is an age-old traditional Indian sport practiced by both men and women and is one of the oldest outdoor sports. It is played on a rectangular field with a central track connecting two posts at either end of the field.
During the game, nine players from the chasing team are on the field, eight of whom crouch in the center lane, while three runners from the defending team run across the field in an attempt to avoid being touched.
Mkhwanazi, who is in Grade 12 at Matomela High, said she was introduced to the sport by her KwaKhetha primary school teacher and coach, Nomnotho Shezi, after seeing potential in her.

She says she is ready to conquer the world and going abroad to do what she loves is a dream come true.

KwaZulu-Natal Kho Kho coach Zwelethu Tshabalala said it is the first time South Africa has sent a team to participate in an international Kho Kho tournament.
Tshabalala said he is confident the team will do well.
