191 Police Guard Jokowi Visits Waste Bank, Receiving Public Criticism
Joko Widodo, colloquially known as Jokowi, has not been President of the Republic of Indonesia for almost three months. Despite this, the activities and privileges he enjoys are still similar to those of the time when he was number one in this country.
Most recently, Jokowi visited the Banjarnegara Waste Bank (BSB) located in Kasilib Village, Wanadadi Subdistrict, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, Monday, January 6, 2025.
During the visit, Jokowi benefited from enhanced security involving 191 police officers.
Many parties view the deployment of such a large number of personnel as disproportionate, given that Jokowi is no longer president.
Some parties also argue that such security is not necessary and that the allocation of such large numbers of personnel should be directed to activities or areas that require more attention.
“The Banjarnegara police held a preparatory call because Pak Jokowi wanted to come. Almost as if the president wanted to come,” said senior journalist Agi Betha in a podcast with Hersubeno Arief on the YouTube channel “Off The Record FNN”, reported by RMOL.id on Monday January 13, 2025.
Agi added that the event was titled Miss Jokowi's meeting with residents.
“That’s what it costs the state (to pay) hundreds of officers,” Agi said.
According to him, Jokowi's visit was only to see the waste bank.
“If the state dares to spend money, what impact will it have on the people, what revenue will the state get,” Agi said.
