From criticizing “excessive” maternity pay to describing herself as “working class” while working at McDonald's to denouncing sandwiches as “not real food” (compared to a desktop steak), Kemi Badenoch never I'm not one to avoid controversy.

“Millionaires probably shouldn’t take it,” he told Matt Barbet on Sky News Breakfast.

“It's millionaires, not pensioners. We probably need to look at means testing at some of those levels. I don't think many viewers will agree with that.”

It is unclear what effect the means test of the triple lock would have in practice. It is not yet a clearly developed policy. Indeed, Mr Badenoch argues that the party should not focus on specific policies immediately after performing poorly in the last election.
