Prabowo-Megawati meeting breaks Jokowi's dominance
Lingkar Madani Executive Director Ray Rangkuti said the planned meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and PDIP General Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri could break Joko Widodo's dominance in the current government.
“So Mr. Jokowi's daughters will be more marginalized,” Ray said on Sunday (19/1).
At the same time, Ray believed that the meeting could also weaken PDIP's position outside the government.
Because, Ray said, measures aimed at disrupting the existence of a party that come from outside are usually linked to the negligence or even encouragement of the government in power.
Thus, Ray said the meeting of the two national figures could ensure that the government of the day would not have the desire to involve girls in the activities of any political party.
For Prabowo, Ray continued, PDIP may not be invited to join the cabinet, but it is hoped that this meeting can be moderated.
“There are no obstacles on issues important to the Prabowo government, especially from outside the government,” he said.
“If during all this time, especially before the 100th day of Prabowo's government, Prabowo's political style appears linked to Solo, then after 100 days it is possible that the link will loosen even more,” he added .
Instead of improving the positive image of Prabowo's government, Ray believes that the visible impression is that the level of public satisfaction continues to decline.
Meanwhile, Gerindra Party General Secretary Ahmad Muzani hopes that the meeting between PDIP General Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri and President Prabowo Subianto can take place soon. He hopes the meeting can take place this month.
“I pray that it can be done this month, the sooner the better,” said Muzani, at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (15/1).
Muzani said Megawati and Prabowo had a good personal relationship. When Prabowo was elected president, relations between the two men remained good.
Even though the PDIP is not officially part of the government, Muzani said he is grateful that the PDIP continues to support Prabowo's government.
