IHC orders phone call with Imran Khan's sons, personal doctor

The Islamabad High Court has ordered authorities to allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan to speak with his sons over telephone, Express News reported.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case relating to Imran's requests for various facilities during his incarceration, including access to a personal doctor, meetings with his wife and telephone calls with his children.

During the hearing, the court ordered that Khan's wife and political leaders be allowed to visit him as per prison rules. Additionally, a phone call with Imran's sons and medical treatment by his personal physician were ordered.

The court also inquired about the procedure for Khan's wife to visit him, given that she is now a convicted person, and sought clarification on the procedure for appeal and medical treatment of his son.

The court asked the deputy superintendent of prison to seek clarification from the superintendent of Adiala prison and provide a response by Monday.

Imran's lawyer Faisal Chaudhry informed the court that despite earlier orders, some of the facilities granted had been revoked. He further requested permission to meet Imran immediately.

The case will be re-examined on January 27.
