Football by Syracuse Orange: Far too early view of the schedule of the non-conference football for 2025

Before Fran Brown entered the field as a 31st main football coach of Syracuse Orange, expectations were high. Opposite a medium-sized football schedule, many orange fans said that Brown had to win at least eight games, some said nine or ten, and on different occasions I even heard the play-offs of College Football in the same sense as Syracuse's football. And after Brown's first season as a main football coach, it is not an understatement to say that in the first year he has achieved more than ten victories, a top four-finish in the ACC and for the first time since 2018 a Bowl-game victory.

But what awaits us in 2025 will not be friendly, especially without a Quarterback Kyle McCord and other important contributors. The SU scheme for next season currently comprises four college Football Playoff teams for 2024 Our LadyTennessee, Smu and Clemson, Plus Miami (FL),, Georgia TechBoston College, Duke, North Carolina (with Bill Belichick as head coach), PITT, UConnand Colgate.

And of the twelve teams that were on the SU schedule next year, eleven were eligible for Bowl last season, and the only school that did not succeed in achieving six victories was FCS-Rivalal Colgate. And if that is not an indication of the work that Fran Brown did for him in the second year, I don't know either.

To split this, I split the seasonal review in two parts. First I will look at the non-conference list, and in a second article I will elaborate on the SU conference schedule:

Non-conference game

Week 1 – 30 August vs. Tennessee Volunteers (Atlanta, Georgia)

Oranje opens the regular season of 2025 against the Tennessee Volunteers in Atlanta, go, in the Chick-Fil-a Kickoff Game on 30 August. Last season, under head coach Josh Heupel, Tennessee finished third in the sec behind Georgia before he lost to State Ohio 42-17 in Columbus in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Tennessee will certainly take a step back compared to last season, given the long list of remarkable rooms, including three All-SEC First Teamers (RB Dylan Sampson, C Cooper Mays and the James Pearce Jr.), who come to number one. 19 inch ESPNs far too early university football Top 25-ranking. And despite some rumors, Ster QB Nico Iamaleava returns for a second season for the Vols. It will undoubtedly be a difficult game for Orange in week one.

Week 2 – 6 September versus Uconn Huskies

In the past year, UConn experienced one of the most successful seasons in program history under head coach Jim Mora. The Huskies won nine games as FBS team for the third time, including a 27-14 dominant victory over North Carolina in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl. The Huskies were forced to go to fifth-year backup QB Joe Fagnano for a large part of the year after the first season of Nick Evers (Transfer from Wisconsin) in Storrs was derailed by injuries. Uconn was without Evers when it visited Syracuse at the end of November. Despite the fact that this is a very winable competition at home, I would not underestimate Uconn so early in the regular competition. The Huskies give the most, if not all, of their leading contributors back in the attack, but will fully reload the defense, losing their three best defensive rulers and three leading tacklingers of the team. SU has won the last five games, with Uconn returning until 2012.

Week 3 – 13 September versus Colgate Raiders

At the end of the year, Colgate said goodbye to head coach Stan Dakosty and not long afterwards announced the recruitment of Curt Fitzpatrick, who recently led Division III Cortland to a record of 45-5 in four seasons. The Division III National Coach of the year 2023 led Cortland to a national championship in 2023 and four consecutive Empire 8 titles. That said, a new regime in Hamilton should not be enough to influence the outcome of this competition, since Syracuse has no longer lost to Colgate since 1950.

The Notre Dame will be the most difficult opponent of SU next year, without a doubt. It is already expected that the Fighting Irish de 4th Best Team in University Football Next year, according to ESPN. Despite the fact that he just found the Ohio State in the Football Playoff National Championship College, ND had one of the best seasons in the program history: 14 victories, three of which are in the 'Postseason' against no. 10 Indiana, no. 2 Georgia (without it Qb Carson Beck, but whatever) and no. 6 Penn State. Notre Dame will have to replace Riley Leonard at QB next year and will lean on Junior Back-Up Steve Angeli or First-year CJ Carr, which was assessed as the number 2 Pocket Passer in the recruitment class of 2024. The combination of Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price will remain a force for opponents to deal with the backfield behind a strong line of attack.
