Pti deletes Ali Amin Gandapur from Party KP Post Party

Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) has announced a key change in leadership in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur who has dismissed his functions as president of the provincial party.

Junaid Akbar, member of the National Assembly, was appointed replacement.

The decision was confirmed by PTI chief Salman Akram Raja at a press conference in Rawalpindi.

Raja said that Gandapur's departure of this role was voluntary, allowing him to focus on his responsibilities as chief minister in the midst of urgent challenges, including issues of law and order in the province.

“This decision aligns with Gandapur's request because he wanted to devote himself entirely to the governance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” said Raja.

The change in leadership would have been discussed at a meeting between Junaid Akbar and the president of PTI, Imran Khan, in prison.

Several Party personalities, including Atif Khan, Malik Ahmad Khan Bachhar and Mian Farhat Abbas, were also present at the meeting.

Raja alluded to other organizational changes within PTI, including the potential appointment of the former MNA Alia Hamza to an important role in Punjab.

The PTI remains involved in current political discussions, the party arguing for the creation of a commission before official talks with the government.

Raja said PTI was open to a meeting on January 28 if the government was proposing.

Junaid Akbar elected president of the CAP

PTI Junaid Akbar was previously elected without opposition as president of the CAP on Friday.

The position was vacant since the government took power after the February 2024 elections. The CAP, which oversees the audit of government income and expenses, is considered the most influential committee in the Parliament.

Although the rules do not impose the chairmanship of the CAP to be held by the opposition, it has traditionally been assigned to the opposition members to ensure transparency in financial matters.

Akbar's candidacy was supported by several key characters, including Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, the opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan, Senator Shibli Faraz and others.
