Statements from 3 other witnesses in GHQ attack case recorded

Rawalpindi: In Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, statements of three more witnesses were recorded in the General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case involving Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, as well as other people.

The hearing of the GHQ attack case was conducted by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah in the jail. The court granted Imran Khans family members to attend the trial as requested by the defense lawyers.

The prosecution raised an objection to allow Bushra Bibi to sit in the GHQ trial, stating that Bushra Bibi was a convict in another case and had been convicted by the court. The prosecution argued that there was no provision in the law that allowed a convict to attend the trial of another case.

Defense attorneys have filed a petition to merge 13 cases related to the events of May-9, requesting that a single indictment be filed for all cases because they refer to the same conspiracy. The defense requested that all cases related to May 9 be consolidated and tried in court.

After defense lawyer Faisal Malik finished his arguments regarding Imran Khans' acquittal petition, the hearing was adjourned. The prosecution will present its arguments at the next court date.

A total of 12 prosecution witness statements were recorded in the case. The court adjourned the next hearing until January 29. On January 22, statements of four witnesses were recorded in the GHQ attack case against Imran Khan and other accused.
