Notre Dame Football: Why recruiting stars matters
Notre Dame could have defeated Osu, but should have been almost perfect to get it done
The National Title Game, Ohio State, contained 14 five-star rated players compared to Notre Dame's One. Did these rough talent differences mean that the Irish could not win the game? Certainly not.
But what it meant is that Notre Dame's path to win the game was very narrow. The Irish had to be almost perfect to hoist the trophy. They were not, and now Ryan Day went from Nul to hero in the heads of the fans of Ohio State in a month since the loss of Michigan.
I bring this raw elite talent difference to not dumping on the Notre Dame. The Irish players and the staff deserve a lot of credit to fight through injuries throughout the season and still find a way to fight, scratch and claw their way into one of the last two teams that stand. In the end, however, it wasn't enough. And there is a difficult lesson to learn through this experience.

Notre Dame is on the right track, but a recruitment stick is needed
The 2024 -Run from Notre Dame showed that it has the right coach to lead the program in the modern era of College Football. Recruiting star ranks are not that important, but they matter a lot and the Irish simply discovered this in the difficult way in the largest stage in sport.
