The teenage prodigy of the Rajasthan Royals lit up the IPL Eliminator with a 29-ball 97 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mullanpur on Wednesday, breaking Chris Gayle’s long-standing record for most sixes in a single edition, while narrowly missing out on the fastest IPL century.
In the process, he also became the youngest batsman to cross 600 runs in an IPL season, going past the Rishabh Pant” 2018 benchmark for Delhi Daredevils.
Tendulkar praises Sooryavanshi’s Bat Swing
The spine-tingling knock drew widespread admiration, with batting legend Sachin Tendulkar praising his fluid bat swing and describing the innings as “spectacular”, underscoring the growing stature of a youngster who is quickly becoming the face of the fearless modern T20 batsman.
“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s batting movement was excellent. What is even more remarkable is how beautifully he frees up his front foot to create space for balls aimed at his legs. This freedom allows him to play the way he does,” Tendulkar wrote on ‘X’.

Former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop called Sooryavanshi’s quality of hitting rare.

Former India player Mohammad Kaif wrote about ‘X’: “We see a miracle, we see a future star, we see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the wonder boy.”
