Walnut Creek, California (10.9 km northwest of the epicenter) [Map] / Mild shaking (MMI IV) / Complex movement that is difficult to describe / 2-5 seconds: I sat in bed with my shoulders and head leaning against the wall and felt the rumble and shaking start, then an immediate jolt, and then it was over. I heard and felt like the car hit the wall.

The second was a loud cracking sound that came from a very specific corner of the living room. One of my dogs felt the vibration right before it started and they were both startled by the sound of the second one. All three of us felt it was coming from the exact same direction.
