Donald Trump: the agreement with Iran will be signed “tomorrow”, and the Strait of Hormuz will be opened afterwards

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that a deal with Iran should be signed on Sunday and that the Strait of Hormuz would be opened immediately after signing, according to a Truth Social report.

“The agreement is expected to be signed tomorrow, and immediately upon signing, the Strait of Hormuz is OPEN TO ALL,” Trump wrote.

Trump stressed that the deal was very different from the Obama administration’s, which he described as “an easy, beautiful, sweet path to a nuclear weapon, which Iran would have possessed six years ago and used well before now.”

“My agreement with Iran is exactly the opposite: A WALL WITHOUT NUCLEAR WEAPONS!” Trump said. “In fact, they no longer want nuclear weapons and will not get them, whether through purchase, development or any other form of acquisition.”

He added that “no money will exchange hands,” attempting to further differentiate the agreement from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), with Trump accusing then-President Barack Obama of paying “hundreds of billions of dollars” to Iran, “including $1.7 billion in cold, green cash.”

“When the time comes, when all is calm, we will collect the nuclear dust, buried deep beneath the mighty sunken granite mountains, with our magnificent B-2 bombers and their brilliant pilots, and mix and destroy it, whether in Iran or in the United States,” Trump added.

“We look forward to working with Iran and with the entire Middle East, over the long term,” Trump continued. “Hopefully this process will go quickly, easily and smoothly. If not, we have the ultimate alternative, which will hopefully never be used again!

Opposition leader Yair Lapid condemned the potential deal, calling it a complete failure on the part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“It makes us a client state which takes control in matters of national security,” he criticized. “No press conference, no media manipulation, no AI video will hide the failure. The next government will have a historic role: repairing the damage caused by Netanyahu’s inability to turn military achievements into strategic successes.”

Pakistani PM: Signing of US-Iran deal expected within 24 hours

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday that the United States and Iran had agreed on a framework for a peace deal aimed at ending the months-long conflict in the Middle East, with the final text of the deal having been reached.

Pakistan is currently preparing for an electronic signature expected in the next 24 hours, followed by technical discussions next week, Sharif added.

Also on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei denied that the Islamabad memorandum would take place on Sunday, according to state media.

Baghaei said the possibility of signing the Islamabad memorandum in the coming days could not be ruled out, but cautioned against commenting on the signing date, given the hesitations of the other side.

He then added that the regime would charge for services provided in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran’s Fars News Agency, saying that the measures taken by the Islamic Republic to manage traffic security in the Strait align with the protection of national security and the common good of the global community.

Iran: release of frozen funding part of deal

According to Fars, Baghaei further said that the release of funds frozen by Iran was an integral part of the ongoing deal.

Baghaei added that the presence of foreign military personnel and their bases in the region must end.
