Eight Asda staff in Cape Hill, Sandwell, were quarantined after testing positive for Covid-19
The outbreak of Covid-19 in the Asda supermarket is associated with in-store pharmacies.
Eight staff at the Sandhill Cape Hill Store have been diagnosed as virus positive and are currently quarantined.
The Sandwell Council said workers were in contact with the community and many locals who had a positive response recently visited a supermarket.
The pharmacy reopened after Deep Clean and said Asda is stepping up efforts to promote face covering.
“Many customers observe social distances in stores and wear face covers, but some shoppers do not, putting themselves and other customers at risk of infection,” officials said in a statement. “
Face covers can now be purchased before entering the store. We’ve made it available to customers who can’t or don’t want to buy disposable masks.
The latest figures from Public Health England (PHE) show that Sandwell returned to the top 20 regions of new coronavirus cases.
