The district has announced a positive case regarding Parent Square.

“We would like to share information about this process and answer a few questions in case a confirmed case of COVID-19 may occur in a child’s school or a school in another district in the future. “Kelly McGovern wrote to his parent Square. “Of course, we don’t want our students and staff to do this, but we recognize more information and continue to provide it to everyone.”

“The Headstart School has worked with public health authorities to identify students who have had close contact with individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. Health authorities have identified students who have been identified as close contacts. Directly notified parents and provided further instructions. Wyoming Department of Health and Sweetwater County Public Health Department ensure that all students stay at least 6 feet away from others. We recommend wearing a face cover if you can’t, staying home if you’re sick, or showing signs associated with COVID-19, and washing your hands frequently, “said McGavan. ..

COVID-19 is a virus that spreads from person to person through respiratory droplets. Infected people make droplets. These droplets can spread to others in close contact. Symptoms of COVID-19 may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle or body aches, headaches, sore throat, fatigue, and loss of taste and smell. Wearing a mask may not stop the spread, but it helps slow the spread, resulting in fewer COVID 19-positive cases.

What is close contact?

  • Close contact within 6 feet of the infected person for at least 15 minutes. Individuals with close contact are required by public health personnel to be quarantined at home for 14 days after the last contact.
  • Public health officials may contact the parents of non-contact students to inform them of potential exposure. This is done through a letter or telephone from the public health authorities. Health officials require parents to monitor their symptoms for at least 14 days. Potentially exposed students do not need to be isolated at home.

What if your child gets sick?

  • It is important to remember that COVID-19 is widespread in many communities and exposure to COVID-19 can occur outside of school. If your child develops symptoms, they may have COVID-19, even if the symptoms are mild. Your child should stay home except for medical treatment. Do not send your child to school. Avoid public spaces, public activities, and group gatherings.
  • Contact your child’s healthcare provider about your child’s symptoms and whether testing is needed.
  • If you want to test your child with or without symptoms, Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, Castle Rock Medical Center, and Sweetwater County Public Health have partnered to fund the CARES Act currently available. We use it to provide free access drive-through tests to symptomatic students. If you receive a bill, the Public Health Service has paid for the CARES Act-funded test and you should contact them to resolve the issue. The Memorial Hospital at Swab Station in Sweetwater County is open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm. The Castle Rock Medical Center swabs Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. No referrals or reservations required.
