COVID-19 infections in France surge at the end of the weekend

According to the Ministry of Health, France reported 16,101 new cases of the new coronavirus on Sunday. This has decreased from the record number of the previous day.
Although not officially announced, the country is clearly experiencing a second wave of infection.
Cases surged from 20,339 on Friday to 26,896 on Saturday.
After the biggest one-day jump since the end of Friday’s blockade, and even higher numbers on Saturday, Sunday’s depression was a welcome relief.
734,974 infections have been recorded since records management of the disease began.
An additional 46 people died on Sunday, with 32,730 deaths now.
There are a total of 5,084 hospitalizations and 910 patients in the intensive care unit.
National health officials remain vigilant as the number of cases increases and the virus is still actively distributed.
Health Minister Olivier Véran has imposed new restrictions, saying in a press conference televised Thursday that “France’s health continues to deteriorate.”
Veran has placed four more cities in the Maximum Alert Zone. Lille, Grenoble, Saint-Etienne and Lyon have been added to the municipalities considered to be at the highest risk of the virus.
To stop the spread of the virus at the social gathering, officials in the Ile-de-France region, including Paris, announced last week that cafes and bars will be closed for two weeks and all restaurants will be closed by 10 pm. It rose in the region, along with Ile de France and the overseas territories of Guadeloupe, which had the same restrictions last week.
Approximately 70 sectors were identified as vulnerable across France, and the number of active clusters of infection on Sunday increased from 1,446 to 1,489 the day before.
